Carbon Sequestration Projects

Diversify your sustainability portfolio by offsetting greenhouse gas emissions through tree plantings.

Through a unique partnership with American Forests, we offer corporate customers the opportunity to purchase Commercial Grade Carbon Offsets through American Forests’ reforestation projects. American Forests is known as the nation’s oldest nonprofit citizens’ conservation organization and the world leader in planting trees for environmental restoration.

Choosing carbon sequestration offsets offers the opportunity to:

  1. Diversify your sustainability portfolio by offsetting greenhouse gas emissions through tree plantings.

  2. Demonstrate concern about the waste and abuse of the world’s forests and help restore wildlife habitat and preserve biodiversity.

  3. Utilize the extensive network of projects offered by American Forests, in urban and rural projects at home and abroad.

  4. Contribute to the development of carbon sinks which facilitate the long term storage of carbon in forests.

  5. Join a growing family of prominent national companies such as Home Depot, IKEA and Paul Mitchell who have all supported American Forests’ reforestation efforts.

Qualifying commitments may be awarded project naming rights.

Tangible Results
As an American Forests partner for over five years, Green Mountain has planted nearly 100,000 trees in reforestation projects across the nation. To put this in perspective, our commitment helps avoid over 1.4 million pounds of carbon dioxide from entering our air each year.

About American Forests

american forests

American Forests’ mission is to grow a healthier world with trees.

American Forests has a vision of healthy forest ecosystems growing in every community across the United States and worldwide. Its three program centers—Forest Policy, Urban Forests, and Global ReLeaf—provide action opportunities that allow people to improve their environment with trees. American Forests publishes American Forests magazine and can be found on the Internet at www.americanforests.org.

American Forests' Approach

global relief

American Forests’ programs are developed around conservation issues. They use the best science to address those issues with practical solutions. To improve the ecological health of our nation’s public lands, we developed Global ReLeaf. This educational and action program sponsors the planting of native trees by local groups to restore forests damaged by loss of trees.

To address the quality of air and water in our nation’s cities, American Forests has developed a technique to map and measure the ecological value of the urban forests to clean our air and water. To help local people and groups participate in the national public policy debate on our public forestlands, our Forest Policy Center provides access to national decision-makers.

From urban forests to national forests, each person is an environmental guardian, helping to secure the future of the natural world, one tree at a time.
