Client Description
Hyatt® Regency Dallas at Reunion
Hyatt Regency DFW International Airport
Hyatt Hotels & Resorts® specialize in deluxe hotels and feature meeting facilities and special services for the business traveler. They operate hotels in major and secondary cities, airport locations, and leading resort areas throughout the world.
Hyatt Regency® hotels are the core brand of Hyatt Hotels & Resorts®, offering guests opportunities to broaden their horizons and rejuvenate. Lobbies and rooms are designed to reflect the best of the local cultures, the food and beverage outlets are inventive, and exceptional technology, meeting, and fitness facilities are available.
Our Challenge
Enhance the portfolio of Hyatt’s existing sustainability practices by offsetting 100% of the electricity of two of their Dallas, TX, hotel locations with renewable energy.
Our Solution
Renewable energy comes from less-polluting sources and is replenished naturally - examples include wind, solar and low-impact hydro facilities.
The energy purchase helps these two Hyatt properties reduce their share of pollution from carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, a greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming. By buying renewable energy, these Hyatt hotels, each using an average of 1,416 megawatt-hours per month, will help avoid as much air pollution as is generated annually by more than 4,400 cars - equivalent to not driving approximately 55 million miles.
This purchase qualified the Hyatt to join the EPA Green Power Partnership, and in 2005 they received a leadership award in Green Power Purchasing at the annual Green Power Marketing Conference. Hyatt hotels is among the Top 20 green power purchasers in the country and the top five in Texas.
Client Testimonial
“This was a chance to make a very public statement about the responsibility we have to be good community stewards,” said Hyatt Regency Dallas general manager Steve Vissotzky.
“Our agreement with Green Mountain Energy not only makes economic sense, but it also complements our existing sustainable business practices.”
